Peter E. Morgan, who joined the firm in 2007, is a business lawyer providing effective corporate counsel to entrepreneurs and owners of privately held businesses. Peter's practice focuses on business law, including general corporate transactions and litigation related to contract law, mergers and acquisitions, franchise agreements and franchise disclosure documents for both franchisees and franchisors, partnership agreements, LLC operating agreements, employment and independent contractor agreements, and noncompetition, nonsolicitation and nondisclosure agreements; commercial real estate, including financing agreements, lease preparation and negotiation, contract negotiation and review, and commercial real estate closings; and intellectual property, including state and federal trademark applications and licensing agreements and disputes.
Born and raised in the United Kingdom, Peter received his B.A. with honors from Stirling University in Scotland; his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of California, Riverside; and his J.D., cum laude, from Georgia State University College of Law.
Before becoming an attorney, Peter was an award-winning professor and a long-time writer, teacher and entrepreneur.
Peter currently serves on the board of directors of the Smyrna Public Safety Foundation. In the past, he has worked with both public and private non-profit organizations, designing and implementing international business training programs, including programs for the United States Agency for International Development (U.S.A.I.D.), in business, finance, and non-profit management.
In addition to providing effective representation for individuals and businesses, Peter has represented the Internal Revenue Service in the United States Tax Court while working as a volunteer extern for the Office of the Chief Counsel for the I.R.S. and has also represented low-income clients of the Georgia State College of Law Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic in disputes with the I.R.S.
