In fact, two of our attorneys were founding members of the steering committee for the 400 Technology Connection, which fostered technology and commercial growth in the area prior to partnering with the Technology Association of Georgia ("TAG").

Our Attorneys

Alan M. Briskin founded the firm in 1995. He represents many emerging technology companies by negotiating and drafting business agreements, performing transactions, and handling intellectual property licensing, as well as litigation in employment law, business disputes, and federal court matters. Before entering private practice, Mr. Briskin served as a staff attorney for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in Washington, D.C., focusing on general litigation and corporate matters.

Michael D. Cross, Jr. joined the law firm in 1999. His practice focuses on business agreements and transactions, employment contracts, franchise law, commercial real estate, and non-profit corporation law. He is a frequent speaker and writer, serves on a number of boards and advisory councils, and is particularly active in the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce, as well as political campaigns and many other volunteer activities.

Byron M.G. Sanford built a successful private practice for seven years before joining the firm in 2004. He brings extensive experience in technology and internet law; commercial litigation, including partnership and shareholder disputes; contract litigation; employment contracts; intellectual property , commercial collections, and construction disputes. Mr. Sanford also serves as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the Gwinnett Judicial District in civil litigation matters.

David M. Messer practiced in Oklahoma from 2000 until joining Briskin, Cross & Sanford in 2007. David’s practice historically has focused on aggressively representing companies, business owners, and executives in litigated and arbitrated matters. David also has particular experience in transportation and logistics, having worked for several years in that industry prior to becoming a lawyer.

Peter E. Morgan joined the firm while in law school in 2006 after beginning a successful career in academia, which included a position as a tenured professor at the University of West Georgia. Peter's practice is focused on matters involving taxation, intellectual property, and real property, as well as general business and contract issues. Peter is a graduate of Georgia State University School of Law.
