BCS: Helping business clients with opportunities and through crises since 1995
Biography
Laura C. P. Day is a Senior Intellectual Property Paralegal at Briskin, Cross & Sanford, LLC, where she plays a key role in the firm’s trademark and intellectual property practice. She also supports the firm’s corporate transactions and civil litigation teams, contributing to strategy, legal analysis, and brief drafting.
With over 15 years of experience, Laura manages all aspects of federal trademark registration and maintenance, including clearance searches, application preparation, and responses to office actions. She has been instrumental in securing favorable outcomes before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, including the successful reversal of USPTO refusals based on descriptiveness and likelihood of confusion. Her insight and creativity have helped shape winning appellate strategies in complex trademark disputes.
Laura earned her Master’s degree in Paralegal Studies from The George Washington University, where she concentrated in intellectual property law. Her master’s thesis, Statutory Construction in the Lanham Act: Domestic Scandal and the International Example, analyzed controversial federal precedent under Section 2(a) of the Lanham Act — an area later addressed by the U.S. Supreme Court in Iancu v. Brunetti, 139 S. Ct. 2294 (2019). She directly applied this research in the firm’s own successful appeal on the same issue.
Before joining Briskin, Cross & Sanford in 2008, Laura taught English at the University of Georgia, where she also earned both her B.A. and M.A. in English Literature with highest honors. Her strong analytical and writing skills have been a cornerstone of her success, both in legal work and earlier roles as an executive résumé writer and editor.
A long-time resident of Roswell, Georgia, Laura enjoys cooking, listening to public radio, and exploring local parks and nature trails with her husband and two children.
