Biography

Steve is a Senior Attorney at Briskin, Cross & Sanford, LLC (“BCS”) and brings 16+ years of diverse legal experience to the firm. He is an active member of the State Bars in both Georgia and Illinois. He is also licensed before the Court of Appeals of the State of Georgia and a number of United States District Courts, including the Northern District of Georgia, the Middle District of Georgia, and the Northern District of Illinois. He currently focuses his practice on corporate transactions and litigation.

Prior to joining BCS, Steve was a partner at a nationally recognized full-service law firm where he defended dozens of Fortune 500 corporations, as well as individuals, in a variety of litigation-based actions, including personal injury lawsuits (motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, negligent security, negligent hiring/training/supervision, and workers’ compensation claims), contract disputes, and construction defects, to name just a few. He was widely known amongst his colleagues as a “utility player” given his diverse caseload.

For nearly five years, Steve worked for a boutique law firm in Chicago, Illinois where he practiced insurance defense litigation and pursued subrogation claims.

Prior to that, he represented individual plaintiffs in personal injury matters (general negligence, motor vehicle accidents, medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, and Medicare-related issues) at a well-known firm in Chicago which was initially started by the Cook County Law Division’s presiding chief judge.

Steve has litigated matters before magistrate, trial and appellate courts as well as administrative law tribunals. His dynamic legal experience, energetic representation and practical, solution-based approach has allowed him to repeatedly obtain successful results to complex legal issues.

He has also participated as a mentor in the Risk Insurance Management Society’s mentor/mentee program since 2021 assisting young professionals who aspire to enter the insurance, risk management, and legal fields.

Steve earned his J.D. from The University of Illinois Chicago School of Law f/k/a The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois and degrees in Political Science and Business Administration from Illinois State University.

In his free time, Steve enjoys spending quality time with his wife, children and dogs, as well as attending sporting events.
